More than 250 Taken into Custody in Charlotte as Immigration Enforcement Escalates
Over 250 persons have been detained in Charlotte, North Carolina, as part of ongoing federal border security operations, according to official sources.

Charlotte represents the latest American city to face increased federal deployment, following comparable actions in bigger metropolitan areas like Chicago and Los Angeles in recent months. However, elected officials and inhabitants have strongly criticized the detainments, which federal authorities have called "Operation Charlotte's Web". The state's chief executive has alleged that people are being singled out based on their ethnicity.
"We've witnessed concealed, well-armed personnel in military-style garb driving unmarked vehicles, focusing on American citizens based on their skin tone, utilizing racial discrimination and detaining arbitrary people in public spaces," declared the state governor. "This strategy is not strengthening our security."

In a newly released announcement, a federal representative claimed that the campaign has resulted in the apprehension of "among the most hazardous criminal illegal immigrants", encompassing street gang participants.
Additional individuals arrested had been previously convicted for diverse offenses, including assault on law enforcement agents, driving while intoxicated, theft and tampering with government records, according to the agency.

Comparable with other cities facing immigration enforcement, various foreign nationals in Charlotte are staying indoors due to fear about federal agents in the city, according to community reporting.
The state governor mentioned he's monitoring reports that the campaign will expand to Raleigh, a different North Carolina city, subsequently.
