BF6 Players Are Convinced: Challenges Are Way Too Hard
The release of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 was met with significant enthusiasm, particularly for its flagship multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, concurrent player counts reached a high of nearly 750,000. Yet, despite its popularity, an increasing amount of players are protesting against several of the title's toughest challenges, which are mandatory to unlock specific weapons.
Users have commenced using tailored sessions made via the Portal feature to finish these tasks, highlighting just how grueling these challenges have become.
Understanding BF6 Tasks
Assignments are Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, in contrast to the frequently updated daily and weekly challenges. The game includes four types of assignments, but although many merely grant skins and a few gadgets, completing the weapon assignments is the sole method of obtaining twelve from the forty-one main guns found within the game.
Some of these restricted firearms could shortly earn a place on lists of the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Gamer Backlash across Reddit
Over on Reddit, players are justifiably sharing their frustrations about how difficult and grindy several of these challenges are. An individual player emphasized one of the most extreme examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
- Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs
"This challenge is so terrible and completely out of mind, I want to tear my hair out," is a quote that summarizes just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
Suppression in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it lacks nearly as many positive effects in fights as it did in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.
Meanwhile, firing an LMG without aiming is wildly inaccurate and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you aim to be. The commenter also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that challenge would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and the other way around.
Another Overly Demanding Task
Another Reddit user brought attention to an additional excessively hard challenge, this time in the long-range weapon type to access the PSR:
- Secure 150 precision takedowns from more than 200 meters away with long-range weapons
This is difficult enough by itself, but there's another important point to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at that kind of range.
There is a decent selection of map sizes, but since there are only nine maps in the game currently, it implies you must stick to playing a specific urban map, another expansive area, and maybe a classic map if you're lucky if you plan to engage from afar from a significant distance.
The Bypass
However, there is a solution: the portal. The Battlefield Portal is a tool that allows you to design tailored experiences on the battleground of your choice, including AI opponents. This means you can bypass the intended method… but it isn't truly in line with the intended gameplay experience.
However, when completing the missions in a normal session seems counterproductive, since you are forced to participate in such an unconventional way that harms both you and your squad, who can blame someone for grinding them out in a custom game so teammates aren't hindered?
Upcoming Tweaks
It is expected if some of these assignments are toned down in the near future, because should they remain unchanged, a portion of the user base simply are unlikely to obtain the gated weapons.
Currently, the audience continues to share their thoughts on these demanding battlefield assignments, anticipating a less arduous overall gameplay in subsequent patches.
